    Seven ways to spot what's off

    A crossed threshold is easy to see. A slow drift, an unusual correlation or unseen behaviour, far less so — and those are the expensive ones.

    Threshold

    A value leaves its acceptable range.

    Drift

    The reading slowly moves away from its baseline.

    Correlation

    Two quantities move together abnormally.

    State change

    A device switches mode.

    Anomaly

    Unseen behaviour, outside any threshold.

    Localisation

    An asset's position leaves its zone.

    Free space

    Clearance available around a machine.
