Thingsform Links as a Linktree alternative

A link page sends the visitor elsewhere. The question is what you keep once they have gone, and whether you will be able to reach them again.

    Two different needs

A link page does well what it is made for: gathering destinations behind one address. Its limit lies in its nature — it is a junction, and a junction retains nothing. The visitor clicks, leaves for another site, and you keep a counter. The question gets interesting when that page is your main entry point: if it could hold the form itself, the person would sign up without leaving, their address would join your contacts, and the welcome campaign would go out on its own. So the subject is not the page's appearance but what it produces.

    The 5 deciding criteria

The questions to ask any tool, ours included. The answer given here is Thingsform's.

Can the visitor act without leaving the page?

Forms embed directly in the link page: signup, quote request or contact happen on the spot. Every extra redirect costs a share of visitors, and this is the most direct lever on an entry page's conversion rate.

Where do the collected contacts land?

In your ThingsMail contacts and your CRM, inside the same account. A signup from the page therefore triggers the welcome sequence with no connector and no export: the data is already where it will be used.

    Is the QR code included?

Yes, generated automatically, with click tracking link by link. That is what makes the page usable offline — in-store poster, brochure, vehicle, trade show — and lets you see which of those media actually brings people in.

What do you learn about what works?

Click tracking connects to the dashboards and the submissions: you see not only which link is clicked, but which one produces a signup. The difference is notable — the most-clicked link is rarely the best converting one.

    From which plan?

The Links module is included from the Essential plan, QR code and click tracking included, with no limit on the number of pages on that plan. The forms the page hosts are available from the free plan, so testable before any commitment.

    Should you switch?

Often, no. Here are both cases, in the honest order.

    Keep Linktree if…

    • You need a simple link page, built in five minutes: exactly Linktree's purpose, and it fulfils it very well.
    • You collect nothing: the page points to your networks and content, and that is all it is asked to do.
    • Appearance and ready-made themes matter more to you than what becomes of the visitors.
    • You have no contact list to nurture and no campaigns to send afterwards.

    Look at Thingsform if…

    • You want a visitor to sign up or request a quote without leaving the page.
    • Collected contacts must go straight into your campaigns and your CRM.
    • A QR code must link your printed media to the page, with tracking per medium.
    • You want to know which link converts, not only which is clicked most.
    • You would rather add a page inside an account you already have than another subscription.

    Frequently asked questions

Can we use a custom domain?

The page integrates with your Thingsform space and connects to the Pages module for publishing. This is the point to check during the trial if your brand requires a specific address, since it shapes how you will communicate the page across your media.

How many pages can we create?

The Essential plan sets no limit on the number of pages, which lets you dedicate one per campaign, trade show or outlet. That is useful precisely because click tracking then becomes comparable across media.

Do we have to rebuild our existing page?

The fastest route is to build a new one with the embedded form and run both for a few weeks. You will then compare figures rather than impressions, and decide on the actual signup rate rather than on looks.

    Is this comparison current?

We describe neither the features nor the pricing of another vendor, which change without notice to us. This page sets out the criteria to examine and Thingsform's answers. For the other tool, its current terms are authoritative.

Linktree is a trademark of its publisher, cited here for reference. This page does not describe its features or pricing, which change over time: refer to its current terms.

    The right way to decide

Rebuild your hardest form on the free plan, and have it filled in the field. Half a day is enough, and the answer stops being a matter of opinion.
